James “Jaymie” Frederick Payson

June 8, 1983 – September 14, 2026

James “Jaymie” Frederick Payson, 43, of Milmont Park, Pennsylvania, passed away on September 14, 2026, following years of kidney and heart-related health challenges. His life ended far too soon, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a lifetime of laughter and memories that will never be forgotten.

Born June 8, 1983, in Chester, Pennsylvania, Jaymie was the third of six children born to Ross Christopher Payson Sr. and Barbara Ann Payson. He was raised in Folsom, Delaware County, and graduated from Ridley High School in 2001. After high school, Jaymie entered the building trades, learning carpentry alongside his father. The years they spent working together created a special bond between father and son. Jaymie continued working in construction throughout his career.

Anyone who knew Jaymie knew how funny he was. With his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and incredible talent for impressions, he was often the funniest person in the room. His impersonation of legendary Phillies broadcaster Harry Kalas was second to none. He loved Seinfeld and The Simpsons and could always be counted on for a perfectly timed quote or reference.

Beneath his humor was a caring, loyal, kind, and sometimes famously stubborn person who loved his family and friends fiercely. He was a devoted uncle, a loyal friend, and especially close with his older brother, Chris, whom he considered one of his best friends. He shared a special bond with his four sisters and loved them deeply. As one of six siblings, family was at the heart of so many of Jaymie’s happiest memories. A lifelong Philadelphia sports fan, Jaymie faithfully cheered for the Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, and 76ers.

The greatest joy of Jaymie’s life was becoming a father. He had long hoped and prayed for a child, and when his daughter, Genecy “GiGi” Shaw, was born in 2021, that prayer was answered. He loved GiGi beyond measure, prayed for her daily, and treasured the time they spent together. She will forever carry a special part of her dad with her.

Jaymie was raised in the Christian faith but came to embrace it personally as an adult. During a difficult season of life, he began attending Covenant Fellowship Church in Glen Mills, where friendships and Christian fellowship became an important part of his life. In 2017, at age 34, Jaymie professed his faith in Jesus Christ and was baptized. His faith remained with him throughout his life, and his favorite passage of Scripture was Romans 8:31–39—the promise that nothing can separate God’s people from His love in Christ Jesus.

Jaymie is survived by his beloved daughter, Genecy “GiGi” Shaw; his mother, Barbara Hoolan Payson; his brother, Ross Christopher “Chris” Payson Jr. (Angela); and his sisters, Jennifer Mangold (Matthew), Jana Mingioni (Ryan), Ashley Payson, and Lindsey Payson. He is also survived by his nephews, Christopher, Jesse, Asher, Dylan, Connor, Liam, Logan, and Nico; and his nieces, Juliette, Rylie, and Luciana.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ross Christopher Payson Sr., who passed away in 2008. While his family is heartbroken by a life that ended far too soon, they find peace in believing that Jaymie was welcomed into Heaven and reunited with his father.

Jaymie will be remembered for his love for his daughter and family, his faith, his friendships, and, of course, the laughter he brought everywhere he went. His stories and jokes will be repeated for years to come, keeping a little piece of Jaymie alive in every room filled with laughter. His family grieves his death at only 43 years of age, while finding comfort in the same hope Jaymie professed in life: that neither death nor life can separate those who belong to Christ from the love of God.

Services will be held at Woodlyn Baptist Church at 1125 MacDade Blvd., Woodlyn, PA on Saturday, September 26th. Visitation will begin at 4:00pm with a memorial service following at 5:00pm. Burial will take place privately at a later date.
