Harriet G. Knox, age 90, passed away on April 13, 2020 at Riddle Village where she was a resident for eleven years.  Harriet was the wife of the late Earl D. Knox.  She was born and raised in Swarthmore to the late Pierce and Virginia (née Wilcox) Gilbert and was a longtime resident of the Media area.

Mrs. Knox was a lifetime member of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church. She was a graduate of Vermont Junior College, class of 1949.  She worked as a secretary for the American Heart Association and later for the Reformation Lutheran Church, but her most treasured role was that of a mother to her four children. She and Earl made their home on Kimberwick Road in Upper Providence for nearly fifty years.  Her life encompassed her family and her love of dogs, flowers, music and children.

Mrs. Knox is survived by her children Gail MacDonald (Don) of Cocoa Beach, FL, Kathy Fisher (Jim) of Montclair, VA, Carolyn Shute (Richard) of Mechanicsville, VA, and Doug Knox (Tracy) of Kennett Square, PA.  She was the loving grandmother to Andrew & Jason MacDonald, Beth Ann Hopper, Jennifer Wiessen & Amy Fisher, Morgan & Justin Shute, and Kyle, Taylor, & Kate Knox.  She is also survived by her sister, Jessie Chew of Swarthmore, PA.

Harriet's memorial service and burial at Swathmore Presbyterian Church will be announced at the completion of the public health crisis.
