Giorgina A. M. Corti, age 84, a longtime resident of Media, PA, died peacefully at home on February 24, 2021.

Born in Florence, Italy to the late Giorgio Michele and Olimpia Amaddii, Giorgina followed her family's tradition in the tailoring business. After six years training as a seamstress in Collegio Sacro Cuore, Giorgina began specializing in men's clothing and worked on special vestments for the Vatican.  She and her late husband, Guilermo (William) Corti immigrated to the United States in 1964 and settled in Media.  She was the beloved mother of the late Steven J. Coccia.

The eternal optimist, Giorgina woke up every morning with a smile.  Aside from her family, tailoring was her life.  Her incredible work ethic and technical skills resulted in a successful career as an entrepreneur and  business owner.  She began her career in the U.S. with a reputable firm doing work for major department stores, but left her job to follow her dream of owning her own business.  She started a dry cleaning business which she ran successfully for 13 years before returning to the thing she enjoyed most – tailoring.  She owned and operated Gina Tailors on Eagle Road in Havertown for many years where she specialized in wedding dresses. While the hours could be overwhelming, Gina adored her customers and was absolutely content with her life.

Gina is survived by her sister, Marina F. Kaneda, and her brother, Umberto Merelli, along with many nieces and nephews and two who were like grandsons to her.

A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Saturday, March 6 ^th at the Media Cemetery.
