Frances Lillian Salter (née Cowan), age 82, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on September 15, 2025 at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital.

A lifelong resident of Collingdale, Frances was the beloved daughter of the late Ed and Frances Cowan. She graduated from Collingdale High School in 1960.  A mother of four, Frances worked tirelessly to create a loving home for her family all while managing her career. She began working with the Daily Times in customer service before taking a job as a parts expeditor with Altair Airlines. She ultimately worked in customer service relations with Peco where she retired after 20 years. She continued to work as a bookkeeper throughout her retired years.

Frances had a great appreciation for the outdoors. She loved hunting and fishing. An amazing cook, Frances delighted in preparing beautiful meals for her loved ones. Her food brought happiness to her friends and family.

Frances was preceded in death by her son, Michael Salter, in 2023. She is survived by her children James W. Salter, Jr. of Collingdale, Dawn M. Tobin (John) of Deptford, NJ, and Charles V. Salter of Collingdale; 5 grandchildren Kristy DiMascio, Nichole Salter, James Salter III (Katie McWilliams), Johnny Tobin, and Nicholas Tobin; and 2 great-grandchildren Lucy and Dominic Salter.

Friends and family are invited to calling hours at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home on Thursday, October 30th, from 12-1 pm followed by Frances' memorial service at 1 pm.  15 E. Fourth St. Media, PA 19063.
