Frances L.
Ehrig
d. Apr 28, 2021
Frances L. Ehrig, age 89, passed away peacefully at her daughter's residence in Glen Mills on April 28, 2021. Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Frances was the former wife of A. Robert Ehrig who was the love of her life. Frances was a thirty-year resident of Melbourne, FL and previously lived in West Chester, PA where she and Robert raised their children.
Born in Philadelphia, Frances was a graduate of West Chester State University where she obtained her B.S. in English. She enjoyed a long career as an English teacher at Concord High School and P.S. Dupont. She was a colleague of Jill Biden and had the pleasure of meeting Joe Biden many times.
Frances loved to sing and always had a desire to be on stage, but growing up in the 1930s and 40s made it a difficult feat for a young girl. With an incredibly generous heart, Frances was a great supporter of St. Jude's, Native American groups, and various cat, dog, and endangered animal organizations for years.
She moved to Pennsylvania in the last year to be cared for by her daughter, Carol. She would not leave Melbourne, FL without her three cats Pumpkin, Bandit, and Penny. At the end, they were her whole life!
Mrs. Ehrig was preceded in death by her brother, Leonard Forte, and her son-in-law, William T. Wills III.
Frances is survived by her children Robert W. Ehrig (Marcie) and Carol P. Wills; grandchildren Heather L. Franks (Frederick F. Franks III), Cole R. Wills, and Natalie R. Ehrig; and great-grandchildren Tyler Robert, Teddy Thomas, Kaylee Joy, and Breanne Patrice. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Angela Forte, and nephews Michael and Lance Forte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude or the Brandywine Valley SPCA.
