Obituary

Florence Wenzel Mackiewicz, age 89, a resident of Granite Farms Estates, died peacefully on September 8, 2024. Florence was predeceased by her husband of 59 years, Richard S. Mackiewicz. Florence was many things, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, an amateur stock market analyst, an athlete, a working mom, an avid traveler, a food connoisseur and an excellent bakery chef. As an athlete, Flo, as she was called, was voted best athlete in high school and continued her athletics all her life garnering medals in the ACTS Senior Olympics.

Florence was born in Fountain Springs in Schuylkill County, PA to the late Conrad and Mildred Wenzel. She was raised in Germantown where she excelled in both studies and Athletics at Germantown High School. During her youth she spent summers with her many beloved aunts, uncles and cousins, who she enjoyed spending time with her entire life. She went on to graduate from Juniata College and attended the Thunderbird School of Global Management in Arizona where she studied languages and international business. She returned to Philadelphia and worked in banking until she met Richard. They moved to Roxborough and started their family. Florence, a woman always ahead of her time, continued to work as an office manager while she raised her family. In 1969 they moved their young family to Media where they spent many happy years. She is survived by her three loving children, Karen Fullerton (Brian) of Princeton, NJ, Kim Kress (Michael) of West Chester, PA, and Paul Mackiewicz of Media, PA and grandchildren Kyler, Callen, Ethan and Ryan.

Florence was a long time and devoted member of Covenant United Methodist Church in Springfield. She will be interred in their Memorial Garden with her husband Richard in a private ceremony.
