Elise L. McCarthy

age 62 years, of Swarthmore, PA. passed away in her home with family at her side.  Elise made her home in Swarthmore for 59 years where she was a long time member of Swarthmore Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed success as a student at Elwyn Institute and enjoyed a career in food service at Swarthmore College where she worked for 30 years.  Elise volunteered her time for over 12 years  on the Parish Life Committee at her church in Swarthmore.  She received major service awards  from Swarthmore College. Elise established the Elise L. McCarthy Scholarship Fund at Swarthmore College. She enjoyed baking cookies and cupcakes and sending them to her family and friends across the country.

Elise is the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. George and Judith Thoenebe McCarthy.  She is the sister of Evan G. McCarthy of Arlington, Virginia and Jocelyn A. McCarthy (Terrance Ryan) of Silver Spring Maryland.  Also survived by her niece Callan McCarthy Stevenson ( James Stevenson) of London, England,  Niece Isla McCarthy Ryan and nephew McCarthy Ryan both of Silver Spring, Maryland.
