Obituary

Douglas L. Meissner

Age 58 years, of Media, PA died suddenly in his home on November 14, 2019.  Mr. Meissner was raised and spent his formative years in Point Pleasant, NJ. He graduated Admiral Farragut Military School and continued his education at Northwood College studying automobile marketing, before he began his successful career in the automobile industry. He started his career at Meissner Chevrolet, a family business that grew under his guidance, and as owner-operator, his hands on approach, and pursuit of excellence took the company to great levels of success.  Doug was an astute businessman and worked in the automobile industry for over 40 years.

As a businessman and community leader, he supported a great many local and national organizations including St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, American Cancer Society, Nether Providence AA, Media Youth Center and The Media Little League. He was also active at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Media, PA.   Mr. Meissner enjoyed the beach, was a self proclaimed food critic, listened to country music, was a 3 bean sambucca man, and was an avid golfer, who loved the game and was a member of The Springhaven Club where he made countless friends.  His family lovingly knew him as a gift critic. As gifts came his way on special occasions, they had to be critiqued and stand up to his sense of humor, and dry wit.  His life was full and busy, but nothing was more important than his family. Being husband, dad and "Poppy" made him complete.

Son of the late John and Louise Meissner, he is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynne (née Contino) Meissner. He is the proud father of Tara (Tom), Alexa (Anthony), and Jenna.  Four grandchildren, Avery, Luke, Connor and Jack, and his brother Dave Meissner.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00 AM Wednesday at St. Mary Magdalen Church  2400 N. Providence Rd.  Media, PA  Where friends may call after 9:00 AM prior to the mass. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, PA.

Contributions to St. Mary Magdalen Endowment Fund in lieu of flowers would be preferred.

Arrangements by Rigby Harting and Hagan Funeral Home  15 E. Fourth St. Media, PA 19063
