Dorothy M.
Meyer
d. Apr 3, 2021
Dorothy M. Meyer passed with peace and grace on Saturday, April 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Loretta and James A. Byrne; beloved wife of the late Albert A. Meyer; loving mother of Deborah (Victor) Otarola and Lorraine (d. Adrian) Donaghue; cherished grandmother of Victoria, Vanessa (Brian), Jamie, Chris, and Timothy, and great grandmother of Mackenzie and Madeline.
A truly and deeply loving wife and mother, a great nana, an even greater granny, and a cherished friend; Dorothy's life revolved around her family and friends, and nothing brought her more joy. Dorothy worked for the US Social Security Administration for 25 years, providing necessary benefits education to a variety of organizations, and developing cherished lifelong friendships. Living her faith of charity and service, volunteerism was hugely important to Dorothy. With her husband she worked to support the Sisters of Charity of Halifax for nearly a decade. More recently Dorothy spent countless hours volunteering at Paoli Hospital, during which time the friends she made, and the countless baby hats she knitted, brought her such joy. Dorothy loved to travel, garden, cook (her mashed potatoes and chocolate chip cookies were legendary), play cards with friends, and was an avid reader. Dorothy never ceased to amaze her family with her ability to share information on any topic being discussed, routinely surprising her son-in-law with her sports knowledge. Dorothy will be remembered for her strength of spirit and gift of goodness, both of which she carried with her throughout her life and shared with her family, friends, and everyone she met.
