With profound sadness we announce the passing of Dorothy Helen (McQuaid) Lloyd, loving wife, devoted mother and loving friend to all the lives she touched. After a short battle with cancer Dorothy passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 17, 2020.
We believe her loving Granddaughter Angel greeted her and showed her the way.
Dorothy was born in West Phila. March 7, 1945 to loving parents the late William McQuaid and Dorothy Mealey McQuaid.
Dorothy graduated from West Catholic High School for girls and also attended Univ. of Penn Dental School.
Dorothy and her husband of 39 years Edward Lloyd were proprietors of Sports Emporium bar in Southwest Phila. for almost 30 yrs where they had many loving friends and patrons. Dorothy always cherished the many great friends and memories from the Sports,
Dorothy was a teachers aide with Family Social Svcs/Elwyn at Mercy Waldron Academy and then Manoa School in Havertown for 13 years until Jan. 2020. Dorothy loved her job and coworkers who she always talked so highly of!
Dorothy loved spending summers at the shore with her family. She especially loved spending time with her Sister Carol and Brother in law Buzzy and enjoyed being with her Grandchildren. Dorothy loved music & dancing as well as being an avid reader and also loved to journal. One of her favorite past times was watching crime shows like law & order and murder she wrote with her Grandchildren.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Edward S. Lloyd, Devoted Mother of Shawn McIntyre (Lynn), Chris McIntyre, Sr (Lynn),
Karen McIntyre. Cherished Grandmother of Kenny Banko, William McIntyre, Chris McIntyre Jr and Lindsey McIntyre.
Predeceased by her beloved Granddaughter Angel McIntyre.
Dear Sister of William McQuaid (Ann), Adored Sister Carol Carberry (Wayne "Buzzy") and predeceased by Dear Sister Patsy Hewitson. Dorothy absolutely adored and treasured her many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.
We all Loved Dorothy tremendously and she will be greatly missed by all of her adoring family and friends! May we find comfort & peace knowing she is with her precious Granddaughter Angel in Heaven. We Love You both Dearly!
