Donna Liskow Borgstrom
November 11, 1933 – August 30, 2022
Donna Liskow Borgstrom died on August 30, 2022 at the age of 89. She was born Donna Liskow Sperry on November 11, 1933, in Kansas City, Missouri, the youngest of the four daughters of Don and Nancy Sperry: Nan, Barbara, Sue, and Donna.
She attended the University of Colorado, where she met the love of her life, Robert Arthur Borgstrom, of Sioux City, Iowa They were married August 22, 1953. They had three children: Amy, Holly, and Robert. The Borgstrom family moved often, living in Iowa City, IA, St. Paul, MN, Waukesha, WI, Peoria, IL, Minneapolis, MN, Western Springs, IL, Omaha, NE, Long Grove IL, and Fostoria OH before moving to Media, PA in 1978. In 2001 they relocated to Wallingford, where Donna lived until 2020, when she moved to Plush Mills Senior Living, also in Wallingford.
Through all their moves, the Borgstroms maintained close bonds with extended family and especially Donna's sisters, who vacationed together and visited each other often. She became especially close with her sister Barbara St. John of Swarthmore. They enjoyed gardening, making birdhouses, and working on other craft projects together.
Donna was a nester. Her center of life was her home, her gardens, and her family. She was a member of Calvary (now Resurrection) Episcopal Church in Rockdale, where she served on vestry. She spent many of her happiest hours working in her yard and garden. She enjoyed the wallpaper business she started and working at Poco Loco clothing boutique in Swarthmore for almost thirty years, in particular the many customers who became friends.
She was a loyal friend and neighbor and a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and great aunt. Her positive energy, sense of humor, and no-nonsense approach to life engaged all who knew her. She had a frequent and infectious laugh, and deep practical wisdom that she shared generously with family and friends. She died with her three children by her side.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters, nieces Sue and Paula and nephew Ralph. Donna is survived by her children Amy Borgstrom of Arlington, VA: Holly Clouse of Bradenton, FL; Robert Carl Borgstrom and wife Tracey Borgstrom of Swarthmore; four grandchildren, Catherine, Emily, Emma, and Carl, four great ‐ grandchildren, Gloria, Natalia, Sam, and Kennedy and eleven beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place in the spring, her favorite time of year. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in her name to Park Avenue Community Center, https://thepac.center/donate .
