Dick
Hartley
d. Mar 8, 2026
After a lifetime of solving problems, fixing things, and offering opinions on both politics and Philadelphia sports, Dick Hartley, a proud lifelong resident of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at the age of 89.
An engineer by trade and by nature, he approached life the way he approached everything else—with logic, persistence, sarcasm, and the occasional stubborn refusal to admit something couldn't be done.
Dick also dedicated time to service and the community beyond his profession. He proudly served in the Air Force Reserve, volunteered with Media Little League supporting young athletes in the community, and was a long-time board member at Broomall's Lake Country Club, where his opinions were never in short supply.
He was a loyal Philadelphia sports fan, spending countless hours cheering, celebrating, and occasionally yelling at the television while watching the Eagles and Phillies. Through every win, loss, and questionable coaching decision, he remained unwaveringly faithful to his teams.
More than anything, he valued family. He is survived by his son Rick and daughter-in-law Stacy; daughters Anne and Judy, along with sons-in-law Eric and Jeff. He was a proud grandfather to Maddy, Harper, Kayla, Cole and Morgan, all of whom brought him immense pride and joy.
He is also survived by the family's beloved grand-dogs Callie, Wilson and Joey.
He was preceded in death by his wife and children's mom, Cynthia. Their years together formed the heart of his family story, a legacy he carried with him always. Following her passing, Dick found renewed joy in his many years with companion Lucy Kizuik, sharing a deep love for international travel and experiencing diverse cultures together.
Those who knew him will remember his steady presence, his practical advice, his love of his teams, and his unwavering loyalty to family and friends.
In lieu of flowers and services, family and friends are encouraged to raise a glass of champagne, cheer on the Phillies, take a trip, or enjoy a spirited conversation. All things he loved most.
