Diana Hedy
Weinberg
Aug 13, 1937 — Oct 23, 2020
Diana Weinberg, age 83, died peacefully at her home in Rose Valley on October 23, 2020. She was a longtime resident of Rose Valley and former resident of Greenwich, CT. Born in Vienna, Austria during a time of anti-semitism, to intermarried parents, Diana was a refugee to the United States on a visa in 1938. She spent her childhood years in New York City where she graduated from Hunter High School in 1954 and the City College of New York in 1958.
Diana was a visual artist and art educator until her long illness. She was a loving wife of some 40 years to Robert Weinberg who predeceased her 20 years ago. She was a loving mother and treasured friend. In Connecticut and Pennsylvania she served as an artist in galleries and she was an officer of the Greenwich Art Society in Greenwich, CT. Her favorite subject was the Connecticut coastline and her favorite medium was watercolor. A lifelong doglover, pets came second only to her three grandsons as the joy of her last decades. Her sense of humor was with her to the end, and she was the best listener. She loved classical music, especially Strauss waltzes, and flowers and gardens, especially Longwood.
Diana is survived by daughters, Amanda and Laura, grandsons William Aronow, Lucas Bartell and Jake Bartell, a sister Viola Breit, and sister-in-law Betty Schatsberg.
Individuals who wish to be informed of future plans for a memorial ceremony can let the family know however they wish, such as a note delivered to the house, and we will include them when we announce plans.
In lieu of flowers, we hope you may consider contributing to an arts education organization:
