Dewey R. Snyder, Jr., age 87, died peacefully on September 17, 2020 surrounded by his loving family.  Born and raised in Media, Dewey was the son of the late Dewey R. and Ruth (nee McCarthy) Snyder.  As a boy he attended Nativity B.V.M. School and upon graduating from Nether Providence High School, he went on to serve in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955.  He married his beloved wife, the late Elizabeth Snyder, in 1956.

Dewey worked for the U.S. Postal Service for over a decade before embarking on a near thirty-year career with the Maintenance Division of UPS.  While most of his life was spent in Media, Dewey resided in Woodbine, NJ for 10 years.  He was a parishioner of Nativity B.V.M. and volunteered with the Media Little League.  He was a huge baseball fan and especially enjoyed watching the Phillies.  Dewey was a great mechanic and loved working on old cars and trucks.

Dewey was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his children Timothy and Margaret Snyder; and his grandson Jason.

He is survived by his children Michael Snyder (Louise), Theresa Renfer (Kenneth) and Ruth Pierce; his grandchildren Kevin, Erin, Kenneth, Raechel and Melanie (Dennis); and great-grandchildren KJ, Devon, Niaara and Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Nativity B.V.M. on Friday, September 25 at 10:30 AM.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice (600 N. Jackson St., Ste. 103, Media, PA 19063) or Parkinson's Foundation ( parkinson.org ).
