David L.
Leon
Jul 24, 1948 — Oct 3, 2024
David L. Leon, of Clifton Heights, PA, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024 at the age of 76, leaving behind a legacy of passion, dedication, and love. A proud Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam War as a water desalination technician, Dave carried the spirit of service throughout his life, enriching his community and those around him.
A lifelong resident of his childhood home on West Park Lane, Dave's heart belonged to Clifton Heights. After his military service, he dedicated over 40 years to State Farm Insurance in Media, Pennsylvania, as a Facilities Maintenance Technician. His hard work, reliability, and loyalty
earned him the deep respect of his colleagues, leaving a lasting mark on everyone he worked with.
One of Dave's greatest joys was his love for steam-powered cars, particularly his meticulous restoration of a rare 1930's era Reo. His enthusiasm led him to volunteer at the Marshall Steam Museum & Friends of Auburn Heights in Yorklyn, Delaware, where he generously shared his
knowledge and passion, helping preserve a unique piece of automotive history.
Beyond his technical talents, Dave embraced life with a spirit of adventure. An avid skier, he spent countless winters on the slopes at Jack Frost and Big Boulder, and expanded his passion to the great ski destinations of Utah, Vermont, Wyoming, and Colorado. Wherever the snow took him, Dave found joy, camaraderie, and connection. It was on these slopes that he forged lifelong friendships, including a special bond with his best friend, born out of a shared love for the sport.
Dave's community involvement extended to American Legion Post 507 in Norwood, where he was a proud and active member. His presence brought warmth and camaraderie to everyone around him, and he cherished the friendships he made there.
Dave is survived by his loving sister, Barbara Potter, and his nephews Mark, Joseph, and nieces Barbara and Kimberly Polis. He also leaves behind two cherished friends, John and Olivia Padora, who held a special place in his heart, like his own children.
David Leon lived life with generosity, joy, and dedication to his loved ones and passions. His kind heart and adventurous spirit touched the lives of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the many lives he enriched.
Dave's memorial service will be held on November 2, 2024 at Rigby Harting & Hagan Funeral Home. There will be a calling from 10-11 am followed by the service at 11 am.
