Obituary

Damien James Hocker, born 2-15-2007, died 4-17-2024, seventeen years old, was an extraordinary, kind, caring, and loving individual. He had a great sense of humor, a gentle smile, and a warm hug for anyone who needed it. He lived in Wallingford, Ridley Park, and most recently in Woodlyn, Pennsylvania.

Damien attended Strath Haven High School and then Ridley High School, drawing many people to him because of his amazing ability to empathize with others. He could always see the good in everyone he met, was non-judgmental, and tried his best to help and support others. Damien stood up for what was right, was protective of his friends and family, and seemed wise well beyond his actual age.

Damien was enthusiastic about physical fitness, teaching his family and friends how to be healthier and how to work out at the gym safely. He wanted to become a personal trainer. In fact, he was walking home from the gym when he was hit by a car and later succumbed to his injuries at Crozer Hospital in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Damien had a very creative side to him and wanted to study graphic design. Additionally, he thought that maybe someday he would want to teach children because children were naturally drawn to him due to his kindness and gentle leadership abilities. He loved walks in nature and was happy to learn on his own about anything of interest to him, especially music. Kanye West and Drake were among his favorite musicians. Damien also had a knack for tech, building his own computer.

He is greatly beloved and terribly missed by his parents, Elizabeth Aimee Hocker and Douglas Hocker, Jr., his grandparents Suzanne de Seife, Terri Kramer, Joe Miller, Eileen Sutton, and Douglas Hocker, his kinship brothers Bryant and Tyler Culp, his girlfriend Danielle Toal, his extended family, and his many friends.
