Charles J. List, age 70, retired Lieutenant of the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division, died at Crozer-Chester Medical Center on July 25, 2022.  Charlie and his beloved wife of 43 years, Mal, were longtime residents of Media, PA.

Born in Upper Darby to the late Jack and Mary List, Charlie spent his childhood years in Drexel Hill and was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner High School.  After obtaining his Bachelors in Criminal Justice from the University of South Florida, Charlie began his career in law enforcement with the Upper Providence Township Police Department. He received recognition for outstanding performance as a police officer during his ten years with the department.  In 1987 he became a county detective and was assigned to several specialized units in CID but spent most of his career in the homicide unit.  He was a lead investigator in many high-profile cases and was recognized as a top homicide investigator in Pennsylvania.  He retired from CID in 2014.

Charlie enjoyed playing golf and was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan. He loved spending time at the Jersey Shore and on the beach in Florida.  Charlie served as a mentor to many in law enforcement.  He was a respected lieutenant, a devoted friend, and a loving husband who will be deeply missed.

Charlie was preceded in death by his brothers Anthony Francis List, John Joseph List and Kenneth Joseph List.

In addition to his wife, Mal List (nee Fish), Charlie is survived by his sister, Sallie List Brierley of Bellair Beach, Florida.
