C. Edward "Ed" Geiger

May 2, 1936—April 21, 2022

C. Edward Geiger died on April 21, 2022, at Riddle Village in Media, PA at the age of 85.

Born in Berea Ohio, son of Carl and Bertha Geiger, Ed attended Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated from Yale Divinity School in 1961. Ed and his beloved wife, Margaret Staples Geiger were married in 1958.

An ordained minister, Ed served churches in Ohio for 10 years before moving with his family to Erie, PA. During his years in Erie, Ed was involved in community action work before being asked to serve as the Executive Director for Inter Church Ministries. In 1980, the family relocated to Wallingford, PA. Ed served as the Executive Director of the Metropolitan Christian Council of Philadelphia. Throughout his life, he remained dedicated to serving community churches and promoting social justice in the Philadelphia area.

Ed is survived by his wife Peggy, his son Robert Geiger, and his daughter Rebecca Geiger and her husband Dave Carey. He is the proud grandfather of five grandchildren: Katie Geiger, Benjamin Geiger, Thomas Geiger, Elizabeth Geiger, and Rachel Carey, as well as brothers William Geiger and Russell Geiger. He was preceded in death by his son, David Edward Geiger.

A Memorial service will be held on Friday, May 6, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church.
