Obituary

Bette Jean (Neeld) Schregel

February 21, 1942 – March 18, 2025

Bette J. Schregel died on March 18, 2025 at White Horse Village retirement community in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. During this time she was surrounded in love from her children Keri and Kevin, sister Kathy and many other devoted family and friends.  Bette was preceded in death by her beloved husband Paul of 54 years.  They previously resided in Rose Valley, PA where they lived for 49 years. Bette is survived by her two children Kevin Schregel (Lauren) of Phoenix, Arizona, and Keri (Schregel) Golas (Thomas) of Athens, Greece; and five grandchildren, Thanasis, Sofia, Ethan, Pavlos, and Mara.  She was a very proud and loving mother and grandmother.

Bette, or Betsy as she was also known, was raised in Yardley, Pennsylvania by Frank and Beatrice (Van Hise) Neeld with her five siblings. An honor roll student throughout her life, Bette graduated as valedictorian of Pennsbury High, class of 1960, and went on to earn her Master's degree on a full academic scholarship from the University of Pennsylvania in Demography.

In more recent years she thrived in the embrace of the White Horse Village community, an active member of handbells and choir.  She was also a long standing member of the Swarthmore Presbyterian church where she participated in choir and handbells as well.

She strove to live a life of service and generosity, touching the lives of all those around her, making a huge difference in small ways every day. She loved cats, art, classical music and walking outside - particularly with friends and/or family members.

Predeceased by her brothers Frank and Irving, and her sister Mary Ann, Bette will be fondly and sadly missed by her children and grandchildren, younger sister Kathy Neeld Zienert, and her extended family members and friends.

Memorial services will be held on July 12, 2025 at Swarthmore Presbyterian Church, which will also be streamed for any who are unable to attend.
