Obituary

Bernadette Marie (Campbell) Kerins

08/07/1953-02/06/2026

With heavy hearts, we remember our beloved mother, wife, grandmother, sister, and friend—a woman known for her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Born in Derrytresk, County Tyrone, Ireland, a small farming and fishing village on Lough Neagh, she immigrated to the United States in 1974. Through hard work and determination, she put herself through university at St. Joseph's, building a life rooted in perseverance and independence.

She was the heart of her family, always placing her husband, children, and grandchildren first. Always up for the craic, she was never without a smile or a laugh. An avid storyteller and gifted knitter, she lovingly created sweaters, hats, and special gifts for those she cherished. She loved her friends, good music, and dancing, and brought warmth and joy wherever she went.

For 11 years, she courageously battled ovarian cancer, far surpassing expectations with determination and grace. She refused to accept limits when it came to living, loving, and advocating for herself. She did not lose her fight—she beat it in her own way, by living fully and loving deeply.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 40 years, Mickey; her children, Ailish (Kyle), Conor (Tristan), and Michael (Leo); her beloved grandsons—her "wee cherubs"—Gavin, Dylan, and Archie; her sisters and brother, Mary (Suresh), Philomena, and Peter; her in-laws, Mary (Nick), Girard (Mary), and Eileen (Paul); and is lovingly remembered by her many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her parents, Arthur Campbell and Margaret (née McNally); her sister, Elizabeth Hanley; her brother, Sean Campbell; and her brothers-in-law, Patrick (Barbara) and Thomas Kerins Jr.

On behalf of our family, we are profoundly grateful to the nurses and doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering and Main Line Home Care, especially her nurse, Brooklyn, and her aide, Peggy, who cared for her with such kindness, dignity, and compassion, and with whom she always looked forward to spending time, as they quickly became part of our family.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered.
