Obituary

Barbara Ann Grant-Cotlar passed away suddenly but peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 75. Born on March 15, 1951, she lived a life defined by compassion, faith, hard work, and an unwavering love for her family.

A 1969 graduate of Penncrest High School in Media, Pennsylvania, Barbara Grant-Cotlar began her higher education at West Chester State College before transferring to Chester County Hospital School of Nursing, where she earned her Licensed Practical Nurse credential. Nursing was more than a profession to her. It was a calling. She devoted her life to caring for others with kindness and genuine compassion, touching countless lives through her work and her generous spirit.

She was a devoted Christian whose traditional Catholic upbringing provided the foundation for a lifelong faith. She later found a welcoming spiritual home with the congregation at The Church in Wilmington, DE, part of the Living Stream Ministry, where her faith continued to grow and sustain her.

In her younger years, she loved to dance and could often be found enjoying a night out at the disco. She carried that same joyful spirit with her throughout her life, bringing warmth, laughter, and energy to those around her.

Above all, Barbara cherished her family. She was a loving mother to her children, Brian and Rachel, who were the greatest joy of her life. She adored her granddaughter, Ella, who brought her immeasurable happiness.

She was predeceased by her father AJ Grant, Jr., her mother, Eleanor Buley Grant, and her dear brother, Jimmy.

She is survived by her dear brother, Dan; her children, Brian and Rachel; her beloved granddaughter, Ella; her close friend and sister-in-law, Cindy; her nephew and niece, James and Caitlin, along with their spouses and children, and many other relatives and friends who she loved dearly.

Barbara will be remembered for her caring heart, steadfast faith, tireless work ethic, selfless dedication, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely to her family, friends, patients, and everyone fortunate enough to know her. Though she will be deeply missed, her kindness, generosity, and enduring example will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

Barbara will be remembered at a private ceremony, in accordance with her wishes.
