Obituary

Anthony (Tony) John Pavoni, age 94, died peacefully on April 21, 2020 at his residence at Sunrise of Granite Run, in Media, PA.

Tony was born in Altoona, PA, to parents Romeo and Nicolina. He was the youngest sibling of brothers and sisters, Theresa, Louis, Atillio (Arthur), Aurelia, Adeline and Mary.  Tony learned what it meant to be family and how to care for one another. He cared for his mother and both of his sisters through long illnesses.  Throughout his life he generously shared this sense of caring with his many nieces and nephews. He never missed a Christmas and it was a common occurrence to receive the "Uncle Tony Allotment" in your mailbox when you least expected it.

Stories of interactions with his brothers and sisters, as children, were always another favorite topic. He loved a good visit and would spend a whole day recollecting his past with family and friends. He was the keeper of the family photos and childhood movies and shared with those willing to take the time. He also had a thrifty side.  Never one to miss a deal, he would buy cases of food, paint, tools, etc. and give visitors bags filled with his good finds.

Tony served in the U.S. Army from July of 1943 until January of 1946 and experienced a life he would so often recount with a smile and a big laugh for his visitors. Tony graduated from Villanova University with a degree in engineering.  He worked at and retired from the Frankford Arsenal in Philadelphia.  Tony was also very active at his church, Our Lady of the Assumption in Strafford, PA.

Tony is survived by his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters, nephew, George Pavoni and niece, Patrice Murphy (nee Pavoni).

A private mass and memorial will be celebrated in his honor on Monday, April 27, 2020 at Our Lady of the Assumption.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the caregivers at Sunrise of Granite Run and Compassionate Care Hospice. Their love and kindness made his last years happy and peaceful.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Compassionate Care Hospice, Media PA, or Sunrise of Granite Run.

He will be missed by those who knew and loved him. Rest in peace, Tony.
