In Loving Memory of Ann Marie McKenna
Ann Marie McKenna, 72, of Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, passed away unexpectedly and peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, June 30, 2026.
Born and raised in the City of Chester, Ann Marie McKenna lived a life defined by love, family, friendship, and unwavering devotion to those she held dear. She was the beloved daughter of the late Harry and Mary Hawrylak and sister of the late John Hawrylak.
In 1973, Ann married the love of her life, Michael J. McKenna. Together they built a life centered on family, laughter, and cherished memories. Their marriage was marked by deep love and commitment until Michael's passing in 2002. Ann carried his memory in her heart every day and remained devoted to the family they created together.
Ann was a dedicated employee of Harrah's Philadelphia, where she worked for 19 years. She was known for her strong work ethic, friendly personality, and the lasting friendships she formed throughout her career.
Above all else, Ann's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to Michael J. McKenna Jr. and Marianne Oronzio, and a proud and devoted grandmother. Some of her happiest memories were made on the beaches of Cape May and Wildwood, where she spent countless summer days with her beloved grandchildren, affectionately calling them “Mom Mom's Beach Buddies." Whether walking the shoreline, enjoying the boardwalk, or simply sharing laughter floating in the pool, those moments brought her immense happiness.
Ann also loved to travel and eagerly embraced opportunities to explore new places and create lasting memories with family and friends. She had a lifelong love of music and found joy in it wherever she went. Whether it was on the radio, at a concert or show, or listening to a live band at a favorite bar or restaurant, music was a constant part of her life. It was rare to find Ann without a melody on her lips or quietly humming along to a favorite song. Her love of music reflected her joyful spirit and appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
Ann will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, and unconditional love. She had a remarkable ability to make everyone feel welcome, valued, and cared for. Her strength, compassion, and warmth touched countless lives, and her legacy will continue through the family and friends who were blessed to know her.
Ann was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael J. McKenna; her parents, Harry and Mary Hawrylak; and her brother, John Hawrylak. She outlived Dave Oronzio.
She is survived by her loving children, Michael J. McKenna Jr. and Marianne Oronzio; her cherished grandchildren, Alyssa McKenna, Haley McKenna, Lilly Oronzio, Luke Oronzio, and Gerald Collins; her beloved great-granddaughter, Miabella Smith; and many cousins, relatives, and dear friends. She will be especially remembered by the younger members of her extended family who affectionately knew her simply as "Mom Mom."
Though our hearts are broken by her loss, we take comfort in the countless memories she gave us, the lessons she taught us, and the love she shared so freely. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.
A visitation and Divine Liturgy will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Myrrh-Bearers Ukrainian Catholic Church - 900 Fairview Rd, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
