Albert J. Spinelli, age 76, a longtime resident of Media, PA, passed away on April 11, 2021.  He was the beloved husband of Rita Spinelli (nee Cirotti).

Born and raised in South Philadelphia to the late Rita and John Spinelli, Al was a graduate of St. John Neumann High School. He obtained his B.A. and his M.A. from Temple University before beginning a rewarding career with the Philadelphia Public School System.  After 35 years of teaching, Al retired and began working as a substitute teacher at St. Mary Magdalen School, SS. Simon and Jude, and St. Thomas the Apostle.

Al loved the opera.  He attended many operas at the Academy of Music and in New York.  He was pleased to share his appreciation for opera with the students of St. Mary Magdalen where he taught opera classes. Al found the students motivated and eager to understand opera.  He was a great fan and season ticket holder of the Philadelphia Flyers and also loved the Eagles.

Mr. Spinelli is survived by his wife of 41 years, Rita C. Spinelli, his step-daughter, Maria Swingle (David) of West Chester, PA, and three grandchildren Matthew Swingle, Mark Swingle (Summer), and Ryan Swingle.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 17th at St. Mary Magdalen Church (2400 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA 19063). Visitation in the church will be from 10 - 11 am.  Mass will begin at 11 am.  Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon.
